WHAT WE DO

Maryland's Center for Transition and Career Innovation (CTCI) is designed to explore issues related to school-to-work transition for youth with disabilities. Our team of transition experts and education researchers is dedicated to the belief that any youth, with any disability, can achieve employment and a meaningful career. CTCI serves as a valuable resource for scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and the public*. We provide a variety of professional development opportunities, such as:

Research symposia

Institutes, courses, and workshops

Consultation services

Our center staff are engaged in a number of projects of national significance, including:

Transition-focused randomized controlled trials

Rigorous evaluations of existing services

Online and face to face training

Professional development

Participation in transition-related conferences, associations, and summits designed to explore and improve services and outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities.

These projects and experiences become part of our comprehensive repository of transition services data on students with disabilities in Maryland to evaluate services and post-school outcomes.

Based on our expertise, CTCI generates recommendations for system reform to improve post-school outcomes for students with disabilities.

MISSION

Our mission is to enhance programmatic, resource, and service access and opportunity for students and youth with disabilities to improve their post-school outcomes and, ultimately, their quality of life. We achieve this mission via designing and conducting rigorous research and evaluation studies and promoting collaborative interventions and partnerships that inform policies and practices in Maryland and throughout the country.

*The CTCI does not provide direct services to youth with disabilities or their families, but individuals can use the website to learn more about best practices.
